5th Annual Maryland African Diaspora International Women’s Day Celebration | Event Photography by Asia Alleyne

Last night, I had the opportunity to document the 5th Annual Maryland African Diaspora International Women’s Day celebration—an evening centered on culture, leadership, and community.

The room carried a sense of pride and intention, where tradition and modern presence met in a way that felt both celebratory and deeply rooted. From vibrant attire to moments of recognition and reflection, the event honored the strength and contributions of women across the African diaspora.

And as the evening came to a close, what remained wasn’t just what was seen—but what was felt. A sense of continuity. Of culture being carried, not just remembered. Moments like these remind me that photography is not only about documentation, but about preservation—of presence, of voice, and of the spaces where community gathers with intention. We hope you enjoy the images below. If you'd like any images edited, don't hesitate to get in touch with us, we'll take care of the rest.
